Late in 2013 and in 2015 members of the Sipa team conducted a career guidance presentation on Geology. This presentation aroused interest in Geology and the potential employment prospect in the future. The content of the presentation was also said to enrich Geography and other Science Subject matters since it was syllabus orientated.
All the students participated well, and asked many valuable questions on geology, the course units needed to study geology in University and also the scope of employment opportunity for graduate geologist.
With the assistance of the District Education Officer we will continue with these presentations over the coming school year with the next presentation scheduled for early June.
Sipa has also begun to implement a program that distributes soccer balls, netballs, skipping ropes and hoopla hoops to assist schools with sporting activities. It would also be beneficial to continue this program and include some board games and basic musical instruments. These are small things that we take for granted in our schools however, in Uganda and especially in the remote area’s we are working in, these things are non-existent.
